Balancing DowntimeDeveloping as an educator also involves the old fashion act of balancing or juggling, as some people call it. I have myself been apart of this circus show. I felt overwhelmed, exhausted, stumped, and full of self-doubt. to help with my stress I would break the school year down with mini goals of three day weekends, holidays, and summer vacation. I would tell myself, "If I can make it to _______ holiday/vacation, I can enjoy my next adventure." What I found to be the most helpful was planning and looking forward to my next adventure, but this is me personally. There are some great resources for not "burning out" at Edutopia.

Developing as an EducatorMy goal as an educator is to finish my multiple subject credential because I feel my creativity can be an asset to the classroom with all subjects. I will be finishing my last class this fall semester at Cal Poly Pomona. With this website I plan to keep the my students, their families connected on my goals. We can achieve great things together.
I am member of the NAEA (National Art Educators Association). This is a great resource personally and professionally because I can go as a teacher and as an artist. Here and there I can share with other art teachers who like me are artists as well. With this association educators learn to balance, innovate, motivate and revive our passion in art. According to my Reflective coach and friend Eric Gold,"We need to be eclectic about our subject in order to be lively about teaching." My suggestion to pass on to the next newby teacher is never stop enjoying your favorite subject, always be eclectic about it, and opportunities to collect for a lesson are always there in our everyday life. |
